A massive shutdown of most land-based casinos across the globe took place last year. However, there are casinos to open in 2021 – which establishments are on the list? When can gamblers visit reopened casinos? Learn answers to these questions.
The beginning of 2020 has caused the massive closure of all entertainment and leisure establishments throughout the world. Betting offices and casinos were not an exception. Although there were casinos like ones in San Diego or California, the majority of land-based gambling businesses haven’t served clients since last year.
According to the latest online gambling news, many land-based casinos can reopen in 2021. The ongoing year is predicted to be better starting from summer-autumn, so gamblers will get an opportunity to play games offline. Let’s see which casinos may open their doors to visitors before that time.
US casinos to open in 2021
Land-based casinos to open in 2021 – sounds quite realistic for the US residents! At least, several states of the country intend to reopen their venues this winter. Where will gamblers be able to play games with real dealers and opponents?
- Pennsylvania. Gambling venues in the state of Pennsylvania reopened their doors on January 4. Having followed a mandatory three-week suspension, casinos like Harrah’s Philadelphia, Hollywood Casino, Rivers Casino Pittsburgh, and Valley Forge Casino Resort welcome their guests again;
- Michigan. The health department of the state allowed the reopening of several non-essential establishments including casinos after holidays. At the same time, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs will not work until January 15;
- Nevada. Although most Vegas casinos remain closed, some places have opened their doors to visitors. In particular, Downtown Las Vegas’ Plaza has reopened a huge slot space with Wheel Of Fortune-themed machines this month. Also, Planet Hollywood, Park MGM, Rio All-Suite, and LINQ offer gambling services but keep hotel rooms closed.
Land-based casinos in other countries
While US casinos seem to reopen in January, Europeans have to wait until spring to be able to gamble offline.
After the reopening of betting stores, the UK decided to shut down all non-essential businesses including casinos and sportsbooks again. Such a decision was a result of tightening restrictions across the country.
Holland casinos were forced to close down their venues this January. By the latest online casino news, the Netherlands closed all gambling venues at least until the end of the ongoing month. The same touches upon Belgian casinos that seem to reopen their doors in February 2021.
Finally, there is France with its intention to open land-based casinos in February 2021. The country initially planned to reopen casinos on December 15 and then on January 7. Then, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced that the reopening of casinos has been postponed until February at least.
