States and countries to launch online gambling in 2021
The situation with online gambling can change at least in three countries. Some of them have already implemented new laws, one is still hesitating. According to the latest news, Ukraine and Germany will make online casinos and sportsbooks legal. At the same time, some US states are expected to face changes in 2021.
Ukraine will legalize online casinos next year
In December 2019, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed an ordinance allowing online gambling. It will legalize Ukrainian online casinos and sportsbooks as well as invite foreign sites to the local market. Following expectations, the first online gambling sites will get a license in winter-spring 2021.
Ukraine is expecting its online casinos to improve their service quality, range of games, and support center. Ivan Rudoy, who heads the gambling market committee in the country, is optimistic about the future of online casinos and sportsbooks in Ukraine.
Germany changes its gambling law
Last September, Germany introduced a new law concerning online casinos and sportsbooks. Latest online casino news & updates state that online gambling will be officially allowed, according to GlüneuRStV, under a strict regulatory framework. It aims to prevent gamblers from becoming addicted and strengthen their safety and security. Apparently, gamblers will have to verify their identity with an ID card without exceptions. By the new law, gamblers from Germany will face new regulations in summer 2021.
Gambling in the US: New York, Alaska, and Massachusetts
Apart from countries to launch online gambling in 2021, some US states can also allow casinos to work legally. As you know, New York signed sports betting into law years ago but hasn’t been allowed to bet at online sportsbooks yet. Punters could use foreign sites, or go to bookmakers, as well as use mobile apps. However, online sportsbooks can bring more money and there is a possibility that NYC will allow it in 2021.
The same touches upon Massachusetts, This American state has been trying hard to legalize gambling since 2018 due to many economic advantages. It passed numerous bills last year, but none of them got approval. Hopefully, the situation will change next year.
Finally, the last state is Alaska. In 2020, it passed two bills to make online gambling sites legal. The state authorities have already succeeded in legalizing sports betting as a lottery, but only in land-based locations. However, among all US states, this one has the best chances to succeed in making online gaming legal in 2021.
